Our Mission
Red Rocks Kitten Rescue’s mission is to rescue cats and kittens at risk of euthanasia from overcrowded shelters. We focus on pulling pregnant or nursing moms, litters of kittens, bottle babies, and cats with FIV. Unfortunately, these kitties often find themselves on euthanasia lists at overwhelmed shelters due to a lack of fosters and resources. We can provide the space and medical care needed to prepare cats and kittens for adoption.
Why kittens and FIV cats?
In her many years of rescue work, our founder, Nina, saw a great need for rescues equipped to provide the space and time needed to care for nursing moms and babies. A litter of kittens requires up to 8+ weeks of foster care, constant monitoring, and medical care. Oftentimes, shelters dealing with overcrowding do not have the resources to provide for these kitties, especially in southern states that have extreme pet overpopulation problems. FIV cats, on the other hand, do not require as much round-the-clock care but find themselves in shelters for much longer than non-FIV cats. This can frequently lead to them being put on euthanasia lists. This is a cause very special to Nina’s heart as she has an FIV cat of her own at home. RRKR ‘s goal is to educate the public on FIV and find FIV+ cats forever and loving homes.
