Fostering Saves Lives

Fill out an application to become a foster for Red Rocks Kitten Rescue

As a foster-based rescue, Red Rocks Kitten Rescues relies on members of the community willing to open their homes to cats and kittens in our care until they are adopted. The more committed fosters we have, the more kitties we can pull from overcrowded shelters and accept into our care. Together we can save lives!

Fostering for RRKR FAQs

Do I need experience with cats or kittens to become a foster?

No! All new fosters will be provided with training and resources before having an animal placed in your home. We will provide instructional videos, emergency information, and a 24-hour foster line that you can call with questions or concerns.

What types of cats will need fostering?

All cats in our care will be placed into a foster home, and therefore we will have lots of foster opportunities to choose from. Common foster opportunities include:

  • Pregnant/Nursing mothers

  • Litters of kittens that have been separated from mom (over 6 weeks)

  • Bottle Babies (orphaned kittens under 6 weeks)

  • Adult cats over 6 months

  • Special needs/FIV+ cats

  • Cats/Kittens requiring extra socialization

How long does it take to foster?

The length of fostering depends on the kitten or cat’s individual needs. For example, pregnant/nursing moms usually require an average of 8 weeks in foster, while some cats/kittens will only need to be in a foster home for a few days before adoption. When foster opportunities are sent to approved fosters, the estimated foster length will be posted as well.

How do I become a bottle baby, medical, or behavioral foster?

In order to foster cats/kittens requiring extra care, you will need to complete additional training and have a quick meeting with one of our staff members (this can be virtual). This ensures that you have the resources to provide the care that some of our cats and kittens will need.

Does it cost money to foster?

No! RRKR will provide all supplies and vet care needed to take care of your foster animal. We do ask that you have a form of transportation so you can bring your kitty to scheduled veterinary appointments, adoption events, and to an emergency veterinarian if needed.
