Our Team
Nina Hackley, Founder
Nina has been an animal lover all her life and grew up in Denver, Colorado with both dogs and cats. She has been working in animal rescue for eight years at several shelters around the state. She was a self-procclaimed “dog person” until she started working at a cat rescue and quickly realized how much she loved working with feline friends as well. Nina studied Zoology at Colorado State University and began working as a veterinary technician after school. In her free time, she enjoys reading, baking, visiting the mountains, and spending time with friends. She has three dogs and two kitties at home that she adores (apparently a result of working in rescue for so long, according to her). Rescuing animals has been her one true passion since she was young and starting this rescue is absolutely a dream come true.
Lauren McWain, CVT
Lauren is originally from Tennessee and moved out to Colorado to study veterinary technology at Bel-Rea Institute. She graduated summa cum laude and interned at a wildlife rehabilitation center in Sanibel, Florida. She has since worked in general practice as well as emergency medicine. She is a dog mom to two dogs, Bruce and Ollie. In her free time, Lauren enjoys hiking, going to zoos, listening to Taylor Swift, and taking her dogs on adventures. After seeing the animal overpopulation problem in the South firsthand, Lauren is excited to save cats and kittens from overcrowded shelters and bring them to Colorado to find forever homes.
